Richmond Game Schedule for July

We are getting ready to open the building where we play bridge in Richmond, The Bridge Center at 1911 Bishop Road, just behind the Krispy Kreme near the corner of Staples Mill and Broad. This is exciting, but with this change comes the loss of many of Richmond’s online games.

The Bridge Center has been our place to play bridge in Richmond for almost 60 years. At the present time, there are three clubs that use the Bridge Center for their games, Friendly Bridge, Stanley’s Games (Stanley Ford’s games, who passed away a few years ago), and a club called The Bridge Center club. Here is a summary of the games and lessons you can expect to find during the week at the Bridge Center and Online and when the games will start. Open your calendar and line up some games. It will be wonderful to see each other again!

I want you to know that some things we have done online will continue and some will be stopped. We will get through July, and things may begin to feel normal again, but right now we’re in transition, and it’s a little confusing.

Online
Stopped: All Sunday games and lesson, Monday lesson, Tuesday night game
Continued: Thursday night MM game and Saturday afternoon 1:00 pm lesson, Wednesday night game 0-300
Added: Monday night game (0-100 and 0-500), Monday night lesson

If you have between 0-500 masterpoints and are a life master, you have been allowed to play in the 0-500 games online and will continue to be able to do that. However, the live games are restricted to NON LIFE MASTERS. A few of you reached your life master status at 300 if you joined the ACBL before 2010, so you can still play in the 0-500 games online only.

Richmond Game Schedule for July — 4 Comments

  1. I am new to Richmond and interested in playing bridge. I have not played since March 2020. I have played party bridge and duplicate bridge a few times. Please let me advise me about lessons offered and at what level. I consider myself a beginner with experience. Thank you for your help.

    • Verna, welcome to Richmond. I think you will enjoy that bridge at the Bridge Center. I would recommend you start with the Sunday night lessons taught by Ed Kinlaw. The book is online, but you will receive a bound copy when you come. He is starting from Chapter 1 in September. You can contact him at mekinlaw@yahoo.com.

  2. Hi! I am very excited to see this. I am also relatively new to RVA, AND new to having time to play this favorite game of mine. Have played for decades with family and friends, but often hard to even get together a group of 4 who reasonably know the game. Especially would like to come to evening games. But interested in anything! Husband likes to play too😊

    • Elizabeth, please come any time. Sunday afternoons at 1:00, Sunday evenings at 6:00, Tuesday evenings at 6:30. Email me if you need more information. lindabmac@verizon.net. Ed will be starting up the beginner lessons in September if you are interested.
